Mid Year: Powerlines and Playgrounds
Photos
Written Statement
The photo was my favorite because it had good composition. This photo fits the rule of thirds because the first level of the photo is the wood chips, the second level of the photo is the grass alongside the tree line, and the third level of the photo is the sky. The picture has a unique focal point. It focuses on what happens to be a unique attraction at the park. This photo shows up and close what this attraction purpose is, and what this attraction consists of. Lastly, the depth of the photo is good as well. This photo is taken at an angle where it allows the viewers to see up and close the focused attraction at the park. However, if you continue to look in the background you can see many more things to do at the park. The depth of the photo even shows the grass patch along with the trees in the back.
The ISO of the photo was set at 200. It was at 200 because photos taken with normal daylight is usually shot between 100 and 200. The white balance on this photo was not needed. It was not needed because I wanted this photo to capture the sunset with a sort of orange tone, instead of just a white sunset. This photo used a fast shutter speed. The shutter speed was set to 1/200th because the shutter was only open for a short amount of time, which resulted in still looking image, unlike if a slow shutter speed was used, it would have looked blurry. The aperture was set at f/16. This aperture was necessary in order for it to compensate with the fast shutter speed. These settings would help to make the image the best it possibly could be.
I like this photo for its uniqueness. It is taken from such a unique perspective that it allows for the viewer to see many things in the photo. The viewers can see in the back the sunset along the tree line. Also, you can see the several other playground equipment in the back. Aside from that, viewers can see the depth of the photo with the patch of grass in the middle left of the photo. The photo also allows for some of the viewers to feel as if they are indeed on that piece of equipment at the park.
